4 OUT OF 8 TYPES OF COFFEE COFFEE'S TODAY

Today was a coffee-fueled day 😉

It didn’t start out that way – and I was surprised that the day progressed as it did. My ankle still smarts, so out-of-house activities have been scrapped until next weekendbut plenty got accomplished today, here, at home 😊

Things started out innocently – I logged into my FB Account for a quick peek at what friends and family are up to today … and thought I’d update my account while online. I was surprised to see {death wishes} are now a FB {thing}: so, I updated, while drinking my first cup of coffee.

Death Wish for FB Account ...

Then I had another cup of joy-juice, visited with a Graysriver friend via Messenger; and washed my hair. Contemplating another no-fuss day at home, I sorted through my closet for something low-key and comfortable – and spied Bob’s walking cane in the back of the closet; so, I hauled it out, dusted it off, and figured to put it to use today: not anything strenuous, just keeping low-key mobile while house-bound.

I scaled Bob's adjustable walking Cane back to fit my height; Bob was 6’2” … I am 5’2”. The color works for me, too - THANKS BABE ðŸ˜Š

My aching ankle felt relief 😊

So much so, that I figured a little ‘light-weight’ activity around the house wouldn’t set the healing back too much 😉

A few more cups of Pumpkin Spice flavored coffees … and color was greeting my eyes everywhere they looked:

I finally got the Indian Corn out of storage and placed in the kitchen for Fall color; first time it's been hung since we moved in, in 2017. I'm not so grief-paralyzed anymore.
The Cornucopia arrangement was switched out to herald the arrival of Fall ...
And the corner stand I got at a Garage Sale last Summer, is finally in place; not much on it, yet, but at least it's where I intended it to be when I bought it.

I could have used Bob’s muscle so as not to have to manhandle the corner stand – but Bob’s muscle isn’t available anymore; so, I relied on sheer willpower and his cane 😉

And by the grace of Elohim, it got done 😊

Then another cup of go-juice, and the final Fall touches were done – hey, I gotta do this stuff while I’m stuck at home, because most days I’m out of house by noon … and gone most of daylight hours.

Fireplace mantle sprinkled with Fall leaves.
Windows got splashed with sprays of Fall color, too.
My 'cozy spot' when the evening chill sets in ...

I didn’t do much, so I wasn’t on my feet long (and I’d paced the activity with periodic coffee breaks); when I finally called it ‘a day’ with the coffee and busy activity – I settled in cozily to enjoy a couple Barbara Stanwyck movies {October Movies; remember, I’m on October-themed movies and songs this month}: this afternoon, I watched The Night Walker 1964 & The House That Would Not Die 1972. I like Barbara Stanwyck movies (a little cheesy, but not gory), and these fit the month 😉

While watching the movie, I also worked some more rows on MOD Baby Receiving Blanket; it’s 3/4ths of the way worked, now.

Only 76 more rows; this won't be done tonight ...

I’ll finish up the evening by relaxing to the backbeat of soft music, and reading as much as I can of the novel (an ‘October’ type of read), I started a few days ago 😊

Settling in for a quiet night.
A little over two-thirds of the book read; I only 142 pages left.

obiden regime STOCKPILING DRUGS FOR RADIATION SICKNESS

I feel like I'm trapped in a really BAD 1950's Sci-fi movie ... less than B Grade scripting: a brain-dead, Godless moron in the Oval Office of USA, and a delusional, soulless imbecile in russia; both geriatric strawmen with erectile disfunction doing their best to prove how truly inept they are at everything - including leadership.

On the other hand, prophecy IS being played out: this time in world History, was foretold about 2,000 years ago – this knowledge is the only {silver lining} in this continuing political shitshow that shows no sign of slowing down ...

There is NO REAL {safety measures} with radiation. Think of the medical people that make sure they are protected with a rubberized radiation bib/apron when administering "low-level radiation". If it's so damned low and ‘not really dangerous’, WHY the need to cover up and STEP OUT OF THE ROOM of the patient being radiated! That really made me mad when some stupid "technician" would bring the Xray machine into Bob's room - and then make sure he or she was outside the room by a good distance before snapping the damned imaging shot. I felt like physically pushing them back into the room to be radiated with my husband.

The drugs are worthless – and the money being spent can be put to better usage. MPO

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) says it has spent $290 million on a drug to treat radiation sickness in the event of a nuclear emergency.

The HHS Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response announced in a Tuesday release that it bought the drug Nplate from Amgen USA Inc. “as part of long-standing, ongoing efforts to be better prepared to save lives following radiological and nuclear emergencies.”

Acute Radiation Syndrome, caused by exposure to a high dose of radiation, can cause a range of symptoms. Severe cases can wreak devastating effects on the body, including destruction of bone marrow and internal bleeding, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Nplate, which can be used for both adults and children, is aimed at reducing the uncontrolled bleeding often caused by radiation.

The Food and Drug Administration first approved the drug in 2008 to combat an autoimmune disorder that caused serious bleeding and extended another approval in January of last year for use of the drug as a radiation sickness treatment.

The new purchase follows growing international concern over the potential use of nuclear weapons in Russia’s war on Ukraine.

russian president vladimir putin recently threatened that his country would take every necessary action to claim victory and would not hesitate to deploy nuclear weapons.

Ukraine’s capital of Kyiv is readying evacuation centers with potassium iodine pills, which can help against radiation absorption, prepping for a potential nuclear attack on the city.

U.S. officials have asserted that Washington would take decisive action if Russia moves to use nuclear weapons and warned of heavy consequences for putin.

united nations secretary-general antónio guterres last month called for “the era of nuclear blackmail” and the global elimination of nuclear weapons in order to prevent “humanitarian Armageddon.” ~ https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/3676691-us-purchases-290-million-of-drug-for-use-in-radiological-and-nuclear-emergencies/?fbclid=IwAR0spWFOKjPCRBOGtcp50NpN9L0mB0Rskj3BdgjR6d3Jtc9rqCeARdyrvXQ

LOVE

December will mark 4 years since Bob's been gone. And this picture resonated with me while visiting a friend's FB page.

I got a message on Messenger a few minutes ago (4 weeks old - for whatever reason FB saw fit to keep it hidden), from a woman Bob and I were friends with when we lived on Sparks Drive, in Lexington (different friend). While reading the original 4-week-message .... and massaging back and forth ... it was like time hadn't really passed at all: with my mind's eye, I could see her and Bob talking, and laughing together. Visualizing that remembered time of my life, made my heart happy

A happy surprise.

She was sending me love through that message. I needed that message tonight – with the days getting shorter & darker.

God is good; He always KNOWS what I need, and makes sure I get it 😊

GYPSY WOMAN

This morning, I pulled my ice trays out of the freezer; and got a good laugh:

Is my ice trying to tell me they had a rough night in the freezer? LOL!

Still chuckling after storing the triggered ice, I poured a cup of coffee, and cruised a few Blog Hops – posting MOD Knit Receiving Baby Blanket … and was pleasantly surprised to notice that MOD knit Baby Jacket had been featured on one of the crafting Blogs 😊

Blog Hopping today ... my MOD Baby Jacket was featured!
MOD BULKY BABY JACKET & EARFLAP HAT; NB-3 MO. BOY. Knit, bulky weight yarn.

After making all the Blog Hop rounds, I started watching a vintage black-n-white movie, while starting work on another knitted receiving blanket:

MOD KNIT Receiving Blanket; Boy.

All this month I’ll be watching movies, and listening to songs with an October theme – not necessarily with the word ‘October’ in them … but rather, themes that kinda go hand-in-glove with the month of October.

This afternoon, I was watching a movie with a dancing gypsy in it – and that got me to thinking about the Gypsy Woman song; and the time Bob and I were driving country roads, and saw what I dubbed a ‘gypsy wagon’ sitting off in a field, by itself; there was also a camel in the field 😉

Checking out other picture files of my life with Bob, in the same timeframe as the gypsy wagon and camel … I ran across pictures of the time we went target shooting up Spruce Creek – I hadn’t shot a gun in quite awhile (and then it was a pistol, not a rifle); but I really liked the old W22 bolt action rifle Bob inherited from his Grandpa Smalley, so I was excited to get to shoot it 😊

The rifle didn’t shoot {true}, so Bob had to show me how to line the shot up correctly: that took a few rounds before I got the hang of it. But I have a competitive streak in me, so I kept at it until I made a bullseye … and two more, for good measure. Bob knew how to line his shots up accurately with that rifle, so he shot bullseye all the time; but he praised me every time I made a score, and I came home feeling pretty proud of myself.

Bob setting the target – 75-foot distance Spruce Creek, 2010. My wolf ‘Precious’, is beside him.
W22 Bolt action rifle.
‘Sighting’ the W22 was a bit tricky because the sidewalls of the 4x bed was practically at my collarbone!
My ten shots got better with every voiced competitive, ‘I can do it’; and eventually became ‘BULLSEYE!’ 3 times, echoing off the forest walls ðŸ˜‰
Upping the stakes … my shots at ‘something a little smaller’; they got better too, as my {sightings} honed in on the bullseye zone ðŸ˜Š

Bob’s son, Alex, inherited that rifle after Bob’s spirit passed from this life to the next, nearly 4 years ago.

L wants to take me shooting at the shooting range on his family ranch, but I’m not sure I want to do that. Even though there would be other people there, too, I’d feel weird without Bob beside me: I guess maybe my gypsy woman vibe left when Bob did

But I did like the memory of that little competitive moment with Bob, in 2010.

Bob always loved a good challenge – that's how I came into his life 😊

And my challenge was Bob – in those white cut-off shorts that showed off his dripping, tanned manly body, as he sailed through the air doing triple somersaults behind his cousin's speed boat; looked like a nordic god to me.

We both loved challenges 😉

Tonight, this gypsy woman misses her viking man.

LORETTA LYNN DIED TODAY

I heard the report this morning, that Loretta Lynn died. She was 90 yo.

AP Press – “Loretta Lynn, Coal Miner’s Daughter & County Queen, Dies”: https://apnews.com/article/loretta-lynn-dies-5f1545e60e37e482faa42cbb25ae61e8?fbclid=IwAR32UaldOdiFh5Le8KVvQuQmTTfJh2ikcHQ3FeI7QOpZCSN3Ip4-DQBKJOQ

My mother actually met Loretta Lynn when she was singing at Fairs, back East. My mother also met Patsy Cline several times. My mother was a groupie before groupies were "a thing"  Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline were best friends - Loretta named one of her daughters 'Patsy'; Loretta was pregnant with this daughter when she received the news that Patsy had died.

Biography – “Inside Patsy Cline & Loretta Lynn’s Instantaneous and Unbreakable Bond”: https://www.biography.com/news/patsy-cline-loretta-lynn-friendship

Loretta was a teenage bride - very young, married between 13 and 16; she had 3 children by the time her early 20's came around. Loretta's mother was a Native American (Cherokee).

Loretta was all about women's lib ... and was very vocal about it in her songs, in a time when that was not acceptable. Her husband was rough and rowdy - and was 8 or 10 years older than she was - but he towed the line: she didn't put up with macho bullshit.

My Grandfather Joseph Ball was a coal miner, but he wasn't poor. Grandpa died of black lung when I was 6 years old, but I have good memories of him: those memories make me smile. I wish Bob could have known him. Bob met my Grandmother Ball when we were dating.

This song was my mother's favorite ...
