LIGHTENING THINGS UP

Since Wednesday, I’ve read 2 books … very light books (not even 200 pages in length) 😉

Very good reading that had me alternately talking to the characters in tight pinches of the storyline: and laughing out loud at certain turns of the storylines – and finishing them both up, lickety-split; because I couldn’t put them down, once I picked them up 😊

Started Wednesday night, as I turned in …
Finished Thursday morning.
New Read Thursday afternoon.
Finished Thursday; following Supper.

Thursday, I had a light Supper: Seafood Salad – with a very light salad dressing (recipe follows):

WW's Green Goddess Salad Dressing

I am sticking to my weight loss goal by lightening up my meals a bit. I’m dropping the pounds gradually over time, instead of all at once … slow and easy may not be everyone’s idea of losing weight, but I’m 64 years old – losing weight too fast, at this age, will have the skin on my face, upper arms, and all over body scale hanging loose: NOT what I want! If I stay the course slow and easy, the skin will not magically gain elasticity – but it will have time to adjust, and “fit” properly 😉

GREEN GODDESS DRESSING ~makes 1 serving

Use over sliced tomatoes, eggs, seafood, or as a dip with veggies.

½ cup plain, unflavored Yogurt * 1 Tablespoon chopped fresh Parsley * 2 teaspoons chopped fresh Dill * 1 teaspoon Dijon-style Mustard * ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce * Dash EA Salt & White Pepper

In a small bowl combine the ingredients; mix well. Serve immediately.

And this morning, our nephew Kasey came by with his daughter Haley, to load and haul away the rain barrels/stands, I had set aside for his father, Kerry.

Kasey came to get the water barrels and stands for Kerry.
Off to their new home - Bob, I am sure, approves.

It was a little emotional for me to watch them drive away, but I really do not want to restart sciatica inflammation with the hauling of water from the barrels to my garden area later this Spring: I never want to feel that incapacitating pain again, so I am doing everything I feel I need to do to make things easier on my body. I know Kerry can use the rain barrels – and I can use my hose to water my garden.

City water isn’t as healthy as rain water, but then again … with all the activity in the atmosphere with rising pollution across the globe going into the air, passenger jets …

Speak of the devil ðŸ˜‰

… political jets (apparently politician’s do not think they need to ‘go green’ and ride bikes back and forth – or walk), military helicopters, and personal jump-seat-planes … the air, nor the rain passing through the atmosphere, is as healthy as people think it is: and running off the new roofing into the barrels, the water in the barrels probably wasn’t all that healthy either.

But it was free – and I appreciated that.

The Grim Reaper always collects – no matter how ‘safe’ people believe they are. No matter how ‘safe’ we try to make our immediate space; no matter how many aimless and useless laws politician’s mandate.

When it’s your time … it’s your time.

So, I will continue to plan Sunday~Funday roadtrips to start enjoying again, in March 2021; and I will use city water on my garden, when April rolls around.

And I will bide my time.

And smile thinking of Kerry putting the rain barrels to good use.

I was in the middle or ordering garden seeds when Kasey & Haley pulled up; so, after they loaded and drove off, I got back to it and finished up my seed order. It was a light order – I still have some seed that is useable, so this order was basically a “fleshing out replacement” order for the seeds I used up last Spring 😊

I will add to that seed order when I make my annual trip to Adna in April, to buy starts I don’t have success with starting myself.

Now, I am going to eat a light Supper, sampling the Spiced Indian Beef Stew meal I cooked up a few days ago in the first cookathon of this new year: (https://jeastofeden.blogspot.com/2021/01/2021-cookathon-1.html)

Then I am going to pour a light glass of wine (no more than 4 ounces), …

Wine contains 14 essential vitamin & minerals, such as – Vitamin B2 & B6, Vitamin K, Thiamin, Niacin, Riboflavin, magnesium, iron, calcium, zinc, potassium, phosphorus, choline, copper, and manganese. And according to experts, red gold wine has more minerals than white wine (Health Nutrition Benefit Facts Drinking Red White Wine ...)

… lighten the day’s load, and lift my feet as I settle into Bob’s recliner; and start reading a new cowboy novel 😉

Tonight's Read.
