This morning, I pulled my ice trays out of the freezer; and got a good laugh:
Still chuckling after
storing the triggered ice, I poured a cup of coffee, and cruised a few Blog
Hops – posting MOD Knit Receiving Baby Blanket … and was pleasantly surprised
to notice that MOD knit Baby Jacket had been featured on one of the crafting
Blogs 😊
After making all the Blog
Hop rounds, I started watching a vintage black-n-white movie, while starting
work on another knitted receiving blanket:
All this month I’ll be
watching movies, and listening to songs with an October theme – not necessarily
with the word ‘October’ in them … but rather, themes that kinda go
hand-in-glove with the month of October.
This
afternoon, I was watching a movie with a dancing gypsy in it – and that got me
to thinking about the Gypsy Woman song; and the time Bob and I were
driving country roads, and saw what I dubbed a ‘gypsy wagon’ sitting off in a
field, by itself; there was also a camel in the field 😉

Checking out other picture
files of my life with Bob, in the same timeframe as the gypsy wagon and camel …
I ran across pictures of the time we went target shooting up Spruce Creek – I hadn’t
shot a gun in quite awhile (and then it was a pistol, not a rifle); but
I really liked the old W22 bolt action rifle Bob inherited from his Grandpa
Smalley, so I was excited to get to shoot it 😊
The rifle didn’t
shoot {true}, so Bob had
to show me how to line the shot up correctly: that took a few rounds
before I got the hang of it. But I have a competitive streak in me, so I
kept at it until I made a bullseye … and two more, for good measure. Bob
knew how to line his shots up accurately with that rifle, so he shot bullseye
all the time; but he praised me every time I made a score, and I came home
feeling pretty proud of myself.
Bob’s son, Alex, inherited
that rifle after Bob’s spirit passed from this life to the next, nearly 4 years
ago.
L wants to take me shooting
at the shooting range on his family ranch, but I’m not sure I want to do that. Even
though there would be other people there, too, I’d feel weird without Bob
beside me: I guess maybe my gypsy woman vibe left when Bob did ☹
But I did like the memory of
that little competitive moment with Bob, in 2010.
Bob always loved a good challenge – that's how I came into his life 😊
And my challenge was Bob – in those white cut-off shorts that showed off his dripping, tanned manly body, as he sailed through the air doing triple somersaults behind his cousin's speed boat; looked like a nordic god to me.
We both loved challenges 😉
Tonight, this gypsy woman misses her viking
man.
