We were on the road 'round the clock from Kansas; we drove straight through Colorado, stopping only to fuel up.
We have been learning as we travel.
*We have learned that GPS will lead us wrong 99% of the time.
**We have learned that traveling the upper states in the Spring is not advisable: the weather is unstable and highly dangerous.
***We have learned that I-70 (an interstate highway) is a hell road - very rough, needing road work that has not been done on it in decades.
****We have learned that at a length of 60 feet, and a height of 13 ft. 3 in. … getting diesel fuel is not easy: regular fueling stations are not always accessible - and the long haul side of the truck stop stations are not friendly towards RVr's. The semi truck drivers will literally protest and block access with their trucks; and the pumps will not allow access if you are not affiliated with a long-haul company.
*****We have learned that Loves Truck Stops are greedy company stores that lend false advertising to pull RVr's in.
******We are learning what to waste our energy on - and what to shrug off and move on from.
In the end, it's all "small stuff."
May 12th: We pulled into Utah as dawn was breaking over the mesa; we paid for our space … and got a surprise when we opened the back door: Betsy's bunny hopping, and Independence's wheelie (passing through Colorado, the previous evening) led to a mess in the bunk portion of our new Home.
After I cleaned up the bathroom mess, and walked the dog; we promptly fell asleep for a couple hours.
We were so beat.
When we woke up, Holland said he wanted to get a shower - and I said, "Wait a minute; I have something for you." I had bought Holland's birthday things shortly after crossing the Kansas/Colorado boarder, and thought he might like to use one of them after his shower ;-)
Holland hasn't celebrated his birthday in decades; I said, "That's gonna change; your existence needs to be celebrated." :-)
After Holland took his shower, I did a couple light loads of laundry before we left for Moab, the following morning.
