HAPPENING DAY

My Thursday Jam Session was happening tonight – and I was invited to an early Supper beforehand 😊

The get-togethers are casual, as well as productive and fun-filled hours. I dressed low-key.

I also drove into town to grab a coffee … and happened to be thinking on a songwhen it burst forth on the airwaves 😉

‘Iron Man’ song:

Earlier this week someone had mentioned it; and I have been hearing it every summer since 1973, when I first heard it. I like it, and can name it on the first riff. It made me laugh to hear it as I was thinking on it.

I was still laughing about the dovetailing when I arrived at my Spruce Creek destination.

Lynn made spaghetti (yum!), followed by homemade carrot cake (double yum!!); then we got down to the business of why we were there: making music 😊

I can't play an instrument, and I don’t sing … but I can brainstorm, and I can be a sideline cheerleader 😉

But before the dishes were cleared and instruments appeared – GG barged in and slapped a binder of sheet music down with a show of emotional venting, before storming out again. There had been a rift in the group a few weeks ago between her and JR, and tonight the split was finalized. Her voice will be missed – but not her tempestuous ego.

She’ll never own her shortcomings; and we’re all done with her showboating.

A good 3 hours was put in after the door slammed after her departure; and we all headed for our homes feeling encouraged, uplifted, and satisfied with the unfolding happening of musical talent, and friendly cohesiveness.

As I neared Heron Point, I saw a strange occurrence in the sky: a slip of a rainbow hovering vertically, with no discernable top of bottom – and no bowing effect at all. Very weird. I’ve never seen anything like it … and I’ve never seen any sign of a rainbow in a dry sky: I always assumed rainbows appear after a significant rainfall.

This was a happening of a different sort 😉

And as I learned when I researched the weird thing … it’s rare, but not as strange as it appears. My pictures are not very clear because the strange rainbow was faint in the evening sky:

A rainbow without rainfall! An atmospheric phenomenon that occurs when sunlight passes through unseen ice crystals in upper strata levels - even in the summer - in just the right way that highlights the colors of the rainbow made visible to the naked eye.

Tonight, I am working on a pattern rewrite: fingering yarn isn’t available here (only Baby Sport Yarn) since the covid madness pretty much destroyed businesses and catapulted the USA into a recession: novelty things have basically dried up. I’ll make a drive to Hobby Lobby at some point and see if they carry a lighter weight yarn (I prefer fingering weight when knitting this particular pattern – Anne Geddes Baby Yarn would be perfect, but the JoAnn Store here, no longer stocks it); but for now, I’m working out/writing out a pattern to fit the slightly heavier baby yarn.

Sock weight yarn, which is a type of fingering weight yarn, is waaay too expensive to use for this pattern (half the skein of yarn for double the price). So, a rewrite is needed if I want to continue knitting this little baby clothing item.

I do 😊

I’m working on a pattern revision ... sports yarn is thicker than fingering yarn – a rewrite is necessary.

GALATIANS ~ Chapter 6/Thursday Bible Study

In Galatians Chapter 6, Apostle Paul is continuing to expound on his major theme of this Book: that mankind cannot experience salvation via any legalistic Law-based obedience … or show-n-tell rituals, such as circumcision.

Salvation is only through the work Yeshua did for us on Calvary! There is no other route to The Father. N.a.d.a.

GALATIANS ~ Chapter 6/Thursday Bible Study

The Christian Life Brings Brotherhood, Good Works

“Brethren, if a man is caught in some wrongdoing, you who are spiritual should set him right in a spirit of gentleness (kind & amicable/friendly, harmonious, polite; mild & refined in manner = gracious; quiet/discreet, inobtrusive, peaceful, private, confidential & sensitive/responsive, receptive, insightful, subtle of disposition = nature, character, temperament, outlook; moderate; gradual). (v. 1)

‘This is My Commandment; That You Love One Another song’:

Be guard as to yourself, lest you too, be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and thus you will fulfill the law of *Christ. When a man thinks he is something big, he is really nothing at all; he is fooling himself. Let each one test his own work; then, if he has any reason for boasting, he can say to himself alone – and not herald it to another. For everyone of us will have to carry his own load. One who is taught The Word should share with his teacher in every good thing he has (cross reference: Romans 15:27 & 1 Corinthians 9:11-14). (vv. 2–6)

Do not be misled. You cannot fool **Elohim. Whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap. If one sows to gratify his own flesh, them from this soil will he reap corruption. But if he sows to the Spirit, then from the Spirit he will reap everlasting Life. Let us not be weary in doing good, for in due time we shall reap – if we do not lose courage. So then, whenever we have a chance to do so, let us do good to all men; especially to those who are of the Family with us in The Faith. (vv. 7–10)

The Christian Pride Is in the Cross, Not in the Flesh

See what large letters I make when writing this letter to you with my own hand. What is it they want, those men who would compel you to be circumcised? They want to make a show of pleasing the worldly-minded, and they want to escape being persecuted because of the cross of Christ. Even those who themselves are circumcised do not observe the Law, but they want you to be circumcised so that they can boast of your submission.

But far be it for me to boast of anything except the cross of our Lord, ***Yeshua Ha’Mashiach! On it the world has been crucified to me – and I have been crucified to the world. Circumcision counts for nothing with Christ; and the want of circumcision means nothing to Him. What counts is a New Birth. (vv. 11 – 15)

Peace and mercy be upon all who follow this rule, and upon Elohim’s true Israel! After this, let no man make trouble for me, for I bear in my body the brand-marks of Christ. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brethren! Amen.” (vv. 16 – 18)

*Christ (from the Hebrew word, Ha’Mashiach ישוע המשיח & the Greek word, Christos/khris-tos) = The Anointed, Yeshua the Messiah, in both languages.

**Elohim (Hebrew: אֱלֹהִים, romanized: ʾĚlōhīm: [(eloˈ(h)im]) is a Hebrew word meaning "Gods – Father, Son, & Holy Spirit". Although the word is plural in form, in the Hebrew Bible it usually refers to a single deity “Behold, the Lord – the Lord is One”, particularly the at God of Israel.

***Yeshua Ha’Mashiach: is Hebrew for “Jesus the Messiah”; the name Jesus is the Greek form of the Hebrew name Yeshua.

MOUNTAIN HIGH & RIVER WIDE ~Wandering Wednesday 2022-1

Lenny Kravitz – ‘I Want to Get Away’ song:

I was up bright and early this morning; my garden area was fully watered by 9:30 A.M.

A 20-cent cut in price this morning; still pretty high in a recession period.
Prices have been holding even until today: 8-2-22 prices.
Clatskanie-OR from Heron Pointe-WA; 25 min (19.8 mi) via WA-432 E and US-30 W

I hadn’t eaten anything yet, and my stomach wanted a Bundy Burger for lunch … so I switched out my thongs for sandals, and and drove to Clatskanie, thinking I’d eat my ‘burger, then drive to Lee Wooden/Fishhawk Falls County Park to get a short hike in: but when I got to Clatskanie, Bundy’s was closed tighter than a clam at high tide

So, I jetted across the street to the mini mart; and bought a pound of chicken gizzards … and zoomed back across the street and up the backroad behind Safeway 😊

I had intended to drive the familiar backroad loop route from Clatskanie … but instead of turning towards the Camp Wilkerson Park road towards Apiary, I veered off onto a different road just for the adventure of it 😉

This Daytrip to Vernonia via Mist Mountain, Highway #47, is my first 2022 Daytrip.

I passed the road sign pointing to Scappoose/St. Helens – feeling Venronia drawing me forward. I got surprised in several ways: the Highlander climbed Mist Mountain, at an elevation of 1,320 … and this route into Vernonia led me to different part of Vernonia – both were new adventures for me; I hadn’t driven over the mountain before (with or without Bob), nor had I ever visited the part if Vernonia I found myself in (Bob may have driven through on his truck route – but if he did, he never said anything to me about it).

“Mist Mountain” (is actually higher than stated in this article – I read the posted elevation sign to be 1,320 ft/elev.)https://traveloregon.com/things-to-do/clatskanie-mountain/

Bridge work along the route ...

I was thoroughly enjoying myself 😊

Radio waves were channeling the cheney dog barking … and it appears to me that she is behaving exactly how she tried to prove (falsely) President Trump was behaving – refusing to accept that she lost the election, verbally denying the election results, staging a political coup with a bid for the 2024 Presidential Election, and inciting {mob} mentality. cheney is hosting her own insurrection: and the deadhead obamanites are eating her political barf, up – and spewing it all over social media.

I tuned the biased chatted out.

America has had enough of liz cheney: that was glaringly obvious in her total loss when the count came in. We do not want – nor do we need – liz cheney in DC; let alone, in the Oval Office! Anyone who believes for a nano second … that dementia poster boy biden, actually won the Presidential Election, is as delusional as obama’s puppet is. That is a dangerous person: and that person should not be seated in our governing seats. Kick her treasonous ass to the curb! Kick it hard.

Highway #47 may be a country backroad – but it is a very busy backroad; log trucks were every other vehicle on the road … and cars, pickups, and SUV’s, were seriously crowding my back bumper from beginning to end: I finally pulled over at the Big Eddy campground, and let the bumper riders pass me. I was going the speed limit; but Oregon drivers are rude and obnoxious drivers because they are by and large stoned out of their minds 95% of the time.

This was a new road to me, and I was intent on taking my time, and leisurely looking at the surroundings. I didn’t need to be top-dog on the road.

The area of Vernonia that I drove through was pretty suburban, and edging closer to citified. It’s still got a small-town vibe … but it’s not as {country} as the section of Vernonia I was aiming for  and missed.

WOW. This is a side of Vernonia I never knew existed.
Vernonia from Clatskanie; 39 min (28.4 mi) via OR-47 S
Vernonia, Oregon
Vernonia - along Highway #47 backroad.
Forest Grove was half a mere hour in the distance; so ... I backtracked.

I did not want to end up in Forest Grove! So, I had to backtrack to the green highway sign that pointed to Scappoose/Vernonia 😉

This is a different route than I am used to: there are 3 road routes that lead to Vernonia – this is a new one. I like learning different routes: each route has different scenery, and I like that, too 😊

This route dropped me behind Burgerville, in St. Helens – which is about 30 minutes from home.

When I got to Rainier, there was back-to-back traffic on the Lewis & Clark Bridge, crossing from Rainier to Longview this afternoon; around 1 PM. Bridge crossing was very, very busy.

St. Helens-OR from Vernonia; 40 min (27.2 mi) via Scappoose Vernonia Hwy
W.T. ...
Heron Pointe-WA from St Helens-OR; 34 min (28.1 mi) via US-30 W
Back in Longview - and that little daytrip is a definite repeat.

It was still 90-degrees, but the humidity wasn't sky high, so I decided to nip over to Willow Grove, on my way home, and get a short riverside hike in before parking the Highlander in my carport.

This tree root reminded me of a beached octopus. LOL

After a light Supper, I watched the fading sunlight gild the clouds 😊

Today was a good day – from start to finish.
