CONVERGENCE

This morning as I was positioning a watering can under a rain barrel spigot, I spotted another heart-shaped river rock; when I picked it up, I saw that it had blue coloration in it … the color of Bob’s eyes. The heart shape and the coloration in the rock was a comfort to me as this past Tuesday marked the 19th month of Bob’s graduation: I am happy for him. But I miss him. So, I thanked Yeshua and Bob for their token of unfailing love towards me; and put it in my pocket, with a smile. I finished watering my garden boxes; then I decided to drive to Eden Valley.

To me, finding a heart-shaped rock is like a loving reminder that death is just a pause in the cycle of life. That affirmation takes the edge off the missingness. This rock will the the 6th I've found these 19 months.

The day was nice for a drive. The day was also a day Wahkiakum County decided it was time to trim tree limbs back from the roadway. I had been warned Wednesday that there was a traffic delay on Ocean Beach Highway, so I was prepared to expect it; even though it was not stated where the delay would be – I just kept my eyes peeled:

The 1-way-traffic on Ocean Beach Highway that I had been warned of yesterday, was between Nasa Point & Abe Creek; a few minutes outside of Cathlamet. The wait was only a few seconds.

There was more county tree trimming happening near Elochoman Road, which held up traffic for a few minutes. But the delays were blessedly brief. Even the road work at the KM slide area was a smooth passage. When I turned onto Eden Valley Road, I got a laugh out of life in the slow lane – that’s why I like coming here: it’s relaxing. Life happens in slo-mo.

And slo-mo is what I needed today :-D

By the Smalley homestead in Eden Valley.

When I drive to Eden Valley, I leave the fast-paced life and all it’s fast paced hate behind. Where I visit in Eden Valley, no one is in a hurry; or consumed with narcissistic greed – no one is tripping on egomania, and life is peaceful.

Cemeteries don’t bother me.

But, I stayed in the car because I had sandals on and I did not want a snake slithering past my naked toes; they are there no matter how tall or short the grass is. I just did not want to deal with one today. My nerves are still a little frayed after the recent ordeal with Stacey, and I don’t think I would have handled a snake crossing my path today very well …

I was glad to see this trip, that the grass had been cut. It had been very high when I was there on Father's Day.
June 21st, 2020: FATHER'S DAY
19 months – a long time for me: a heartbeat for Bob because eternity is timeless.
I am glad Bob is not on Earth during this time of mindless insanity.
Thinking of Bob in Heaven and how happy he must be ...(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_xRpnw9xKA) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eg7Wqyqivg)
Bob would like the Hiking Club people – and they'd like him, too.
I miss Bob with me.
Bob gave me so much to be thankful for. And while I’m glad he’s not experiencing the insanity that has gripped the world, I miss him; that will never change.
Someday … maybe soon, the way the world is going … my body will lie next to Bob’s body again. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kx4mr7WthY)
Our cremains will lie side-by-side in rest; as we lay for 44 years in life. Yes, Babe – I WILL LAY WITH YOU in a field of stone. Where you are buried, I will be buried ~ OX
Sometimes, I just sit and listen to the windchimes … and reflect on what was, what is, and what is yet to be.

Being there comforts me. That may seem weird to some people – and I admit that I didn’t understand the convergence either when friends who had lost loved one were telling me they find solace in visiting the cemetery … and then, Bob was gone from me: and suddenly, I understand.

And I don’t care if people think I’m strange.

I have to do what I have to do to stay balanced.

And right now, at this point in time, trips to Eden Valley where the past, and the present, converge; are keeping me balanced.

I’ve had a lot of chaotic upsets in my life over the past 19 months. Driving to Eden Valley just to unwind and talk is helpful to me: Bob’s body is dead, but his spirit still lives; and though he, personally can’t respond to me, he can still hear me.

So, I talk.

I don’t care if people think I’m weird.

Duffy’s was closed until the covid madness ends – which means, Duffy’s may never open again, because the demoncrats will keep everything shut down permanently; they have no intention of ever opening anything: covid is their golden goose. Their plan is to exploit covid to destroy America on every level – spiritual, familial, “educational” indoctrination, and economic collapse. If they have their way, the only thing that will survive is gutted cities resembling 3rd world countries, and their godless anarchical tyranny with barak hussain obama as their messiah, and the House as unholy disciples. It is mindless chaos born of insanity.

So, I made a drive today to escape all that. And for a few hours, I did.

A relaxing country drive is all it takes to make me happy and right my world ;-)

I’ve always liked walking and driving the Graysriver and Eden Valley backroads … and I always make time to do the converging Covered Bridge loop when I’m there:

I walked it when it was still gravel ...
I saw a horse that reminded me of Henry (same coloration: chestnut brown, black mane/tail); a horse I loved and rode every day when I was a young girl.

After I left Eden Valley and Graysriver, I drove out Ingall’s Road, in Skamokawa; where I lived for a few years after we moved to Washington from Minnesota. I always include Ingall’s Road – which junctions Middle Valley – which eventually converges with Ocean Beach Highway, when I drive home.

It’s a relaxing country drive.

I always include this loop too.

And every trip I see something I didn’t see before:

It looks like fancy hilltop houses are going up in the valley. I’m not happy to see this.
I always liked seeing hay being baled in country fields. I liked seeing the sun-kissed muscles throwing those bales, too ;-)
Seeing horses always makes my heart happy.

Passing through Skamokawa towards Cathlamet, I saw the Brooks Slough Road Sign, and turned off Ocean Beach Highway onto the slough road. I’m still curious about the advertised 10-mile-hike around the Refuge. Maybe that estimate includes this stretch of road …

Game Refuge
I used to walk the whole loop when it was farm land; before it was a Game Refuge.
I remember each family that lived along this road; I remember where thier houses stood. Now it is all overgrown with blackberry brambles.
This road was always a rough road – it’s worse now.
Hmm. Maybe it wouldn't be safe to walk this road alone …

Brooks Slough Road is very, very rough now – in more than a few places, the blacktop has been completely worn away down to gravel … a few feet further, there was a parked car leaving very little room to get around it: there was the car and the field; or the sliver of road hugging the slough; I had to try to get around the car on the slough edge.

It was kinda tight; but I managed.

When I got past the car, I could see a few feet down the roadway that the road was still open to converge with Steamboat Slough. I thought it would:

There's the Silverman house, on Steamboat Slough.
Junction Signs. I hiked the trail on Steamboat Slough this past Sunday.

That remembrance justified; I headed the Horizon towards home, where I had a light Supper and pulled some freezer meats to slip into the ‘fridge for cookathon meals.

Tomorrow is going to be a busy day from start to finish, to get everything done before the Sabbath starts. I am glad I took the time today to relax for a few hours ;-)

MORNING AT THE LAKE

I don't know what my purpose is anymore.

But, hiking is my passion – I hiked before I met Bob … I hiked while married to Bob (sometimes he would join me); and I enjoy hiking now. It’s in my blood.

This morning I went walking at the Lake with Trudy and Ed … and 13 other Club members; a few of them I had met already, but by and large the assembled group was made up of strangers. Becoming part of a group is a new thing for me – I’d always avoided large groups in the past: I was never good with new situations filled with new people.

This morning, before heading to the Lake, I affixed some pretties to my fanny pack zipper pulls; dragonflies, turquoise beads cluster, and one of Bob’s tie tacks.
I am determined to have a positive attitude …

New situations and new people can be fun and filled with wonderous excitement … but they can also be scary, overwhelming, and stressful.

These past 19 months I’ve tested waters I’ve never tested before – most of the waters tested have been shark infested, so it’s understandable that I’d shy away from swimming in crowded waters. I’ve been forced to become bold and brave as I kick off on my journey upstream; those are not new feelings for me, but it’s been a while since I’ve had to be bold or brave for myself – that’s been Bob’s job for the 44 years we were together: he liked being manly towards me, and I liked him being manly towards me.

But I was never comfortable in group settings. Not even with Bob by my side. So, meeting up with everyone this morning was a big deal for me.

A crucial step forward in this part of the new life I am creating without Bob in it.

Not an official Club Hike: just a friendly impromptu get-together.
A Social Hookup among friends: 15 people were wearing masks – I didn’t, but I kept to the social distancing requirement.
It becomes a 4 mile hike walking from the YMCA parking lot and back again ;-)

Talking about politics or religion is a no-no (though some people do); I’m okay with that rule. Frankly, I’m tired of the talk surrounding covid-19, the breakdown of our civil and national government, and the hateful rhetoric towards Christians. What bothers me when I’m in a group setting is the personal inquiries that inevitably come into play – those questions make me nervous and overwhelm me when I have to dodge them repeatedly.

Questions – innocent questions by most people’s standards – about my husband (don’t have a present one anymore); kids (thorny question, best avoided); grandkids (refer to query concerning kids); where I live (complicated). See what I mean? Talking about those issues is to me what talking politics and religion is to everyone else.

Some people asking me about my kids will judge me, saying that I don’t love my kids enough – if I did, according to them, I would fight harder.

I’ve fought hard for love’s sake for the past 37 years; I’ve fought really hard for 30 years, and I fought even harder for 25 years. I’m exhausted: I’m tired of fighting a losing battle.

Some people asking me about my kids will understand that sometimes – no matter how much you love someone, and how hard you fight to keep pumping CPR into a gasping situation … sometimes love ceases to thrive because the other person is not cooperating; and you just have to step back, trusting the situation to the Lord.

That’s where I’m at with the kids and grandkids … and those inquiring minds.

What is happening is a spiritual battle, and I’ve done all I know to do – all I can do that is humanly possible to keep our family together. But the demented spirit of socialism, communism, and paganism that has infiltrated the public education institutions since the 1950’s in universities and colleges was implemented into elementary and high schools in the 1970’s: and it has poisoned our children and grandchildren until they are toxic with the hatred that has society in a death grip today. My children and grandchildren embrace that putrid ideology, and have kicked me out of their lives – the final kickout occurring July 1st … 14 days ago.

I don’t know if anything is salvageable.

I do know that I, personally, am done. I’ve gone as far in this twisted love relationship as I can go. If there is anything left to salvage, the battle belongs to the Lord. Yeshua can take the fight up, and they can deal with Him.

The kids don’t want me involved in any way in their lives; unless it involves money and gifts: then they will put their socialist “capitalism pigs” propaganda aside for that. What I’ve gone through with them over the years – and more specifically, since their father/grandfather’s spirit stepped off this planet – is shameful. They feel no shame. And I’ve reached my limit.

I’m stepping back and moving on … and Yeshua can give me updates if and when progress is made.

I have never been able to comfortably talk about family relations before Bob … or after Bob. Talking about the family I grew up in; and the family Bob and I forged with such high hopes, is painfully uncomfortable: both are disasters and there is no good way to spin either.

And the neighborhood I currently live in, is where the people that killed my husband still live – there is nothing good that can be said about where I live except that I am honoring my husband’s last words to me: “Keep the house, Val”. And I am doing that. It isn’t easy to walk to the Park Office with the month’s lot rent check; but I am doing it. It isn’t easy to hear other Park neighbors singing the praises of the woman – current Park Manger – who ruined our life, and wiped out my future with my husband. I am doing it with Bob’s face ever before me, and his words echoing in my mind: “Keep the house, Val”.

Today, while walking around the Lake, I was asked the questions I dreaded. I answered without further explanation: I do have children and grandchildren … they live out-of-State; I live at Heron Pointe. End of discussion.

I’d rather not talk about my family, or where I live until I am comfortable with the person I am speaking with.

I’d rather talk politics and religion with strangers: it’s a safer ground for me to tread. But no one wants to poke that sleeping dog.

So, I answered amicably, and kept walking.

Cormorants are fish eating water birds with webbed feet and a straight bill. Their feet are set back on the body so they are awkward walkers on land. (https://www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/double-crested-cormorant)
Kayaker; there were 3, but I only captured 1 before they were out of sight. I like hearing the Church bells; they ring out every day.
I almost missed this Great Blue Heron as I walked by … it was a "picture perfect" moment ;-)
Longview was stinky today; But, I did not have to break out my inhaler. Thank Yeshua!

Walking, occasionally talking, and glancing around now and then; it struck me that no matter how many times I revisit places Bob and I visited, it still feels strange being in those places – those places we both enjoyed – knowing I am the only one of us there. My head turns to the left or the right: and he is not walking alongside me. He will never walk alongside me in the flesh again. My small hands will never feel his large hands reaching out to engulf my hand in a love touch as he interwove his long fingers with my smaller fingers. I will never again bask in his sexy wide grin, or laugh as he tickled the inside of my palm and wiggled his eyebrows suggestively at me while we walked the Lake Park trails.

I really miss Bob.

But Elohim is faithful – He has placed people in my life to share this small part of my life while my heart heals. It is not easy to rebuild a life from scorched earth; the barren landscape can be intimidating: but today I was with people – having a good time. Thinking about nothing in particular; just enjoying the moment in time. The missingness was eased.

And even though Bob’s presence is missed, his presence is also felt.

Undeniably.

Felt.

Doing new things in old, familiar places, does not signify the ending of things – or people past. One way or another, we carry our past with us; no matter what we do. Always. You can’t get around that fact. You can’t get over it, or under it: you just have to work through it.

Yesterday was the mark of 19 months without Bob in my life. But I am not crying 24/7 anymore; and I am no longer avoiding places we used to go together.

So, here I go – I’m not sure what will happen; but here I go.

I’m doing better with meeting new people, but it’s still difficult.

We 7 were the first to finish the walk: 2 left, and I pulled up a stump in the cool shade of the YMCA building.
Trudy and her walking companion arrived ...
And Ed & Art brought up the rear. Time to go home.

One foot in front of the other, into the future.

I am healing.

THE FIRST TIME I SAW HIS FACE

The first time ever I saw Bob’s face … I was a goner ;-)

He didn’t even know I was alive; but just by walking past me – he ruined my heart for anyone else: it would always belong to him.

Only him: the first time ever I saw his face ruined me for anyone else.

The first time I ever heard this song, Bob’s face immediately came to my thoughts as I listened … I didn’t even know his name. But my heart knew him. This song always reminds me of Bob – every word of it.

Only him: no one else.

There are 3 times that seeing his face changed my life forever: 1967 - the first time he walked past me & stole my heart away; 1974 - the second time he came into my life and his heart told him to join his life with mine; and 2018 - the last time I will ever see his face this side of Heaven.

There were 7 long years between the first and second ‘seeing’.

Bob’s Senior Picture – 1967; Our Wedding Night Picture – 1974.

The second sighting led to 44 years of constant ‘seeing’ – and I never got tired of looking at Bob’s face. Those 44 years of looking was always as breath-taking as the first time ever I saw his face. As far as I was concerned, Bob DID “hang the moon” :-D

The last time I saw Bob’s face, I was touching a lifeless face … and kissing lips that would never again kiss me back.

December 14th, 2018 – Bob’s last breath this side of Heaven.

That was 19 months ago; today.

19 months/8 hours & 11 minutes ago; to be exact.

It still seems surreal to me: and I am still ruined for anyone else.

Every new month … on the 14th day of that month … I am amazed that I still manage to live with half a heart.

“The first time ever I saw your face …”

BOB - 1967

I love you, Babe.

Always ~ OX
