LOGISTICS FAIL

Operationally, the simplicity of logistics should rule; but that doesn’t apply to widowhood. Widowhood is a mish-mash of tangled emotions and realities that just shoot simplicity right out of everyday life in the moment. The simplest of things, situations, and circumstances … can suddenly morph right into a complicated moment in a hot second.

Recently I have been asked by several people, “when do you think you might be done with the ‘widow thing’”.

Hmmm: ‘done’.

I used to ask myself that question, too: mostly when I was grieving hard, and wanted the raw pain to end.

Now, at the four-year-mark of my New Life, the pain has settled down to a dull ache; and I know the ‘the widow thing’ will never be done – even considering all the various definitions of {done}.

I will always be widowed. Nothing new that happens in my new life, in-the-moment, can ever change that. Bob – the love of my life, and my husband for 44 years, is irrevocably gone. That can’t be undone. A new relationship wouldn’t erase the memory of Bob; make me love Bob any less; or change the fact that I am his Widow. Bob can never be replaced. So, trying to figure out what {done} would be, escapes me.

Logistics fail to compute.

Also, trying to pin {done} down, isn’t possible. On any level.

I have lived through four years of “done” – every second of every day: I survived all the heart-wrenching “firsts” of memory pings and solo lobo actions and activities, of the first year of widowhood. I am moving into the fourth holiday season … which always, without fail … catapults me into mentally reliving those Fall and Winter months that moved me from Wife to Widow before Christmas 2018, my 62nd BD, and the 2019 New Year (I doubt I will ever be “done” with this “widow thing”, no matter how long I walk this Earth: it had a sharp impact on my life, that seriously changed the course of my Life).

People – those who knew US as a couple; and even new people in my New Life, who never knew Bob … look at me with startled eyes (as if it’s a new revelation to them and me) and say, “But, it’s been four years, Val!”; and act as if I should be done mentioning his Name. Done with the silent, slowly falling tears. D.o.n.e. and moving on.

I am moving on, but the {done} thing isn’t done.

Operationally, the simplicity of logistics should rule; but that doesn’t apply to widowhood.

Done has different interpretations now.

Done, in this my new life – is a blend of facing another day, another experience, a new life adventure, a new anything with a healing process that happens every second of every day without Bob in it. Today’s happiness and joy, restructuring and rebuilding a Life, and facing the world solo lobo … is never-ending. And all of it coexist with my widowhood journey forward.

Done, in my widowhood journey, will never truly be “done”.

Done will always mean finishing one day effectively solo lobo; before/if another one begins.

In this new Life of mine, {done} has come to mean that I no longer try to predict the course of my daily life, in the moment. All daily life predictions ended when Bob’s breathing ended. I’ve learned to take each day as it comes, and go with the flow. That wasn’t so easy that first year. But now, four years down this solo lobo road, I’m getting used to that mindset and doing okay flying by the seat of my pants as I move forward, getting things “done” by day’s end 😉

I’m not sure what people think {done} is – but I’m pretty sure their definition will never fit my Life.

And I’m okay with that 😊

UNEXPECTED

It was raining this morning when I set out for my exercise hour in Castle Rock. I stopped at Baker’s Corner for a quick breakfast bite … and at Mr. Bill’s Espresso Shack for a Peppermint-flavored Latte.

I noticed when I was getting into the Highlander at Baker’s Corner, that I could see a whole line of housing. Clearly. I remember thinking that the construction going on at the end of Schneiter Dr. (across from Willow Grove Road) must have really taken off the past two weeks: those buildings I was looking at looked pretty established in such a short period of time.

As I was sitting in line at Mr. Bill’s, the preverbal {light bulb} went on in my sluggish morning brain, and I thought, “the house is gone! That’s the change”. I had been looking at established buildings earlier in Baker’s Corner parking lot – I could see them clearly because the house surrounded by trees was no longer blocking them.

The house is gone! The ground has been leveled ... it's a good bet another low-income apartment complex is going in for biden's illegals (the ones he’s promised $450,000 a head, to).

I don’t know who is buying all the land in this neck of WA … but I’m willing to lay money down, that the money trail leads directly to barak hussain obama, and joe biden.

New apartment buildings have been going up all over Longview, from one end to the other; and in other demonrat controlled counties too.

I started getting mad. Americans don’t get a free pass to invade other countries and ignore their laws. Americans don’t get set up in cushy living quarters just because they breathe … and if biden is going to fork out $450, 000 to parents who have had their children lost – or stolen – and their entire familial background erased from them due to government screwups, I want my $450,000. The public school system, funded, staffed, and supplied by government henchmen/henchwomen brainwashed my daughter when she was 9 years old, and stole her from me from she was 16 years: for 25 years, I never knew where she was, or more recently … what her new name is (I heard through the grapevine she has changed it – along with her gender). All due of government intrusions and screwups that led to permanent seperation from me.

If biden is going to “make things right”, he can start making things right with American parents that the demonrats have shafted. Money can’t undo the damage the demonrats have created and caused, but if he can fork out big bucks to known terrorist sectors of society, and illegal aliens just because they breathe … he can fork some my way for the mental anguish and soul-searing pain his hellish political party has inflicted on my life: my life has been shattered beyond repair, due to the poisoned political propaganda clinton, obama, and biden has been preaching for decades.

When my latte was ready, and paid for, I couldn’t tear my eyes away from that muddy empty lot – or get out of town fast enough.

But there were more unexpected events unfolding.

Turning onto Coal Creek Road, I saw that there had been more recent arson activity:

More arson ... the sirens never stop. This is a steady occurrence since the obama-biden coup, 11 months ago.

And a bit further up the road, around the first bend, I sat out ten minutes with my hazard lights flicking (I didn’t want to be ass-ended by a speeding car unaware of the deer activity): two full size deer were pacing back and forth in the roadway before finally making the decision to meander off the left bank side.

Coal Creek Road ...

The drive over Delameter Road; and exercise in Castle Rock, was lively and filled with good-natured ribbing and lots of laughter – I enjoy that hour. And I’m really glad that they’ve decided to snub insleeze and get on with life: life isn’t life if you’re not enjoying it.

On a hunch as I was leaving Castle Rock, I decided to drive the other end of town and see if Pleasant Hill Road had been opened up. I miss driving that road. As I came out of the corner and into the straight stretch, I whooped and veered off onto Pleasant Hill Road: it was open again!

What a nice unexpected surprise 😊

A 1-lane bridge was put in - it took the better part of a year for the county hired help, to do this little bit of nothing.
The collapsed culvert on Pleasant Hill Road, which had the road closed for 11 months.

I enjoyed the reopened backroad drive.

When I got back home, I barely had time to get inside the house before my neighbor across the way was on my porch with mail the mailman had misplaced. Most were bills already paid … but one envelope stood out.

And staring at the Name addressed – and contents noted; my blood began to boil.

More government screwup.

More mental anguish.

More unexpected upheaval.

WTF; Bob will never 'qualify'.

I am six days away from the 3rd year of Bob’s physical death.

I really do not need this thoughtless and cruel reminder.

Coffee was not going to be strong enough – I grabbed my coat and purse and drove back into town: the large white envelope on the dining room table, and the rainy day, arson too close to home, and Americans being royally shafted ... ALL of it begging for a relaxing Hot Buttered Rum distraction.

I aimed to please that beg.

Normally I have a hard and fast rule about liquor and anger; DON’T. It doesn’t mix well.

But, then again, widowhood, a looming three-year-death-anniversary, and a shitshow government doesn’t mix well, either. MPO

So, that is how I ended up in the liquor store section of Winco.

Standing in the aisle trying to decide which rum would better suit … I was shocked to see what was stocked next to the bottles of hard liquor.

BABY FORMULA IN THE LIQUOR SECTION OF THE STORE - whose idea was this!

Later, at home; I made a cup of hot buttered rum, lit a candle, read a few chapters of my new read … and hoped, as I rinsed my cup out, for better times ahead.

Please, God.

I’m not asking for the sun and the moon …

COWBOY UP

The holidays are upon us.

Again.

Hard times for those who are alone – with no immediate human contact.

10 months out of the year I do fine: I have good friends. I can get outside the bulk of every day, most every day. I have activities that keep my body, soul, and mind occupied the majority of awake hours.

I’m happy.

I’m healthy.

I’m reasonably {adjusted} to my new station I life.

But 2 months out of the year I am scrabbling to hang on.

I’m told this is normal.

I want something different – Bob would want something different for me.

I know Elohei has Plans for me that won’t include this deep sorrowing; I am patiently waiting.

But, some days … waiting is hard.

I woke up punk this morning; and when I did fully wake up (without rolling over again and trying to shut the day away), I didn’t want to get up.

There’s no rush, anymore, to get up.

When that thought tries to dominate my thoughts … I jump out of bed quick; and find a reason to get out of bed.

The reason I settled on this morning was, Christmas greenery 😉

I want to do something different with the front porch this holiday season; and I thought a trip to Centralia might help me with that – I knew just the place I wanted to go looking, for what I had in mind 😊

Control the Day; or the Day will control you.

Rearranging the Day’s Plans.

I figured it would take me a little under 2 hours one-way, safely driving the backroads in the driving rain. I changed the furnace filter, put the garbage/recycle cans at the curb; grabbed my travel coffee mug, book, coat ... and boogied.

An urgent escape from the house …
Driving along with cowboy music playing.
I’m trying not to get lost in emotions this year.
A logging tower seen from Old Pacific Highway N; Bob was a logger most of his life. The first 18 years we were married, he ran the tower machinery.

Falling leaves were fluttering on the wet breeze, and woodsmoke was in the air.

The drive was enjoyable – the temperature, even with the chilly rainfall, was okay. The music playing was uplifting, and soothing. The scenery was enjoyable; even though the mountains were being shy, and hiding themselves in the shrouding clouds.

I was hoping, with each mile the tires ate up, I'd shake the blues. Old Pacific Highway.
The half way mark; coming up on Paradise Cove RV Park.
Construction is everywhere – no doubt housing for biden's southern illegals, & taliban pals; just before the freeway overpass.
Coming into Toledo, from the Barnes Drive freeway overpass.
I had good intentions of stopping here on the way home for a hamburger & fries; those were waylaid further up the road.
S Lewis County Airport; Jackson Highway.

Toledo Airport Officially Listed as Possible Site for Major Commercial Airport in Washington State: https://www.chronline.com/stories/toledo-airport-officially-listed-as-possible-site-for-major-commercial-airport-in-washington,260200#:~:text=Toledo%20Airport%20Officially%20Listed%20as

Get this on the Calendar! Yummy breakfast here ðŸ˜Š
Utility work; Jackson Highway.
A concern - this area floods; the freeway floods too, around Chehalis & Centralia this time of year. This will be my last trip 'til Spring 2022.
Jackson Highway from Toledo to Mary's Corner; 14 mins.

I don’t know what it was that triggered the tears, but something rubbed my fur the wrong way … and all those emotions I was hoping to distance myself from, started putting their hooks into me

The missingness comes and goes.

There have been significant periods this year where the missingness has not been acute (I’m aware of the absence, but it doesn’t tear at my heart anymore): but, then there are days like today – where it really sucks me in: it hits my heart with a vengeance, and hooks my thoughts. I just have to ride the tears out. They eventually stop.

Most of the time, the tears happen suddenly – no warning: no apparent reason for them (no thoughts had been whipped up). But when they start flowing … the reasons make themselves known.

My heart misses Bob’s heart.

Always at this time of year.

Without warning, I was hit with a dose of creeping melancholia.
I don't know who I am anymore. All I know is I'll never again be who I was ... and that hurts on all levels.
The missingness is hard to shake.
I lost my entire life in a heartbeat in 2018 - on every level: everything I had known for 44 years.
Work Me Lord.
Plans for 2022: Main Street gawking in Centralia.

Centralia is a city: but it’s half the size of Longview. Literally. It might be fun to spend an entire afternoon kicking around Main Street, sometime in 2022 😉

I made my destination without any snafu’s; and found what I could use.

After I stashed my purchases in the Highlander, my stomach was urging me to feed it – so I nipped over to the Country Cousin.

Country Cousin Restaurant; 1054 Harrison Ave, Centralia, WA.
The interior hums with a farm vibe - with whimsical kitschy touches.
I read while I ate.
The birdhouses were in my line of vision; I bought the white one.
Alternate route back home ...
Old Highway #603; from Chehalis.
Another goal for 2022: Somerville Road, Chehalis.
Somerville Road; Chehalis-WA
More construction; Old Highway 603. It seems like green grass is being planted with housing projects at alarming speed to satify the glut of the obamanites.

Highway 603 to Napavine is where things took an interesting turn 😉

I thought I’d bypass Vader by going over Military Road from Winlock: GPS led me off the beaten track to N Military Road … which does eventually tie into S Military Road (which I wanted); but GPS took me faaaar afield – totally missing the Military Road I was aiming for.

It was raining so hard, I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss the familiar turnoff spur, so I used GPS: what a mistake.

Highway #505 dropped into Jackson Prairie, near Mary’s Corner … then onto Jackson Highway: backwards from where I was wanting to go. It was a schizoid GPS drive!

If a squirrel has rushed into the roadway, and GPS followed it, I wouldn’t have been surprised.

Uhhh ... WRONG Military Road!
N Military Road - the skinny white line DOWN from the red line is what I needed. Stupid GPS!
I'm sure Bob was aware of this 2nd Military Road - but it is new to me.
#505 Highway.
A new experience ...
N Military Road leads BACKWARDS from Winlock.
Jackson Prairie from Winlock; via N Military Road & US-12 E - 14 mins.

Jackson House – Bob’s family is related to Matilda Jackson (not sure if she is blood-related, or widowed from a blood relative; but she is definitely in Bob’s Family History notations (https://parks.state.wa.us/1060/Jackson-House)

Elohim has a sense of humor; He knows how to get me laughing.
Not where I intended to be; but ... when Elohim starts cutting the cards, I go with the flow ðŸ˜‰

When I eventually made Castle Rock, I drove home over Delameter: daylight was fading, so I called it a day, and will top the gas tank off tomorrow.

I was still laughing about GPS snafu when I walked through the door at home, and hauled my stuff inside from the car.

It was a crazy round-about-drive home … but it dispelled the gloomies: and I am thankful.

Cleaning this birdhouse will be interesting ...
