GETTING {FIT}

National Walking Day, today: Walking Workouts to Lose Weight:

The first Wednesday in April is always National Walking Day, which happens to fall on this day - April 5 - this year.

Walking Goals …

I walk every day the weather permits; and Holland fixed the my digital treadmill so I can walk my paces when the weather is punkish :-)

Last month, Holland got it working … but, I can't take it with me.
10- to 30-minutes Walking Workouts Tips

And this morning, Holland said we'd be doing some hiking and electric mountain biking while we engage in our road gypsy life; I'm so glad he wanting to do these things with me ;-)

E-bike workouts are a great form of cardio because they get the heart rate going; they offer the same cardiovascular health benefits as a conventional bicycle. While e-bikes do come with a handy pedal-assist feature, it doesn't mean the pedals are useless.

Walking is a cardio exercise.

I am also going to be adding strength training exercise to the walking and biking activities :-)

I like to work my body; and Holland is game to start working his. Of course we won't get crazy - I'm 66, he's 60, so we'll be pacing ourselves and not overstressing our {senior} bodies ;-)

I've already packed my dumbbells & kettlebell weights (48 lbs. worth in various weights) along with my floor mat; we are not going to be slouches on the road.

RIVERFRONT WALK

There is an air stagnation warning for our region until Wednesday afternoon – but the air quality was favorable this afternoon, so I went for a riverfront walk with a friend 😊

The red branches were what originally caught my attention.

On the way home, I bought some boxes … and four more skeins of yarn 😉

Yarns for new designs.

I’ve finished knitting eight Angel baby Blankets; and I have crocheted decorative edging on seven of them, so far (they don’t need to be trimmed, but they look nicer if done this way): I think I’ll be able to pack sixteen to a box – if I loosely roll them, as shown in the picture above.

Keeping with my physical health routine, I also incorporated exercises into the day:

PASSING TIME

It’s been a bit messy around here since the steady rainfall; we are all pretty much house bound until the flood waters recede, so I’ve been keeping my thoughts and hands occupied with busy work that has a real purpose.

Today, I started work on a boy blanket.

Working on a boy theme today ...

The blanket is a beneficiary donation item for infant loss Memory Boxes.

As soon as I have enough made up and edged with trim, to fill a small square box, I’ll mail it off.

The rain did let up for about half an hour this afternoon while I was working on the baby blanket – and, after all the hovering dark gray clouds, I was momentarily blinded by the sunrays pouring through the livingroom windows. LOL

I’ve also been passing time exercising: in-home, because the route to Castle Rock (where I normally exercise with a group of people), has been sabotaged by landslides and flood waters. It’s like a war zone all around the area, with nature as the assailant.

These are the exercises I did today: I like to work out at least three times a week. And I try to vary the routines, too, so they don't get boring.
