It's crunch time here at the Redmill abode.

The packing boxes I have kept on standby (for 4-1/2 years!) for moving day are finally being filled, taped, and labeled :-)

And Holland's truck is being loaded.

It's seriously happening; getting rid of everything we can't ferry across the States in a motorhome ;-)

It looks like a lot - but it really isn't; I've {downsized} every year since September of 2018 (hoping to get out of Longview - especially out of Heron Point). There isn't much to pack up, or haul to the dump.

Just one truck load. Just stuff that no longer fits the new life Holland and I are building together.

We are dumping the old life and embarking on our new life.

Holland had to go into town earlier, and he swung by the store on his way home. He was pretty pleased with himself when I saw the moon pies ;-)

My man listens - even when I think he's isn't. I mentioned choco moon pies a month ago & he finally found them. Love in action.

He said, "I hear every word you say, Baby - even when it looks like I'm not. You're important to me; I listen when you talk."

I have a great man and a loving husband in my life :-)

MOD FLYING GEESE Kitchen Towel

This kitchen towel is also designed with a textured insert at the hemline – but this insert is not so stiff, as yesterday’s design was; today’s insert is a more fluid contrast.

I designed this towel with a flying geese motif. My home is located in the midst of a duck and geese migration field, so the quacking, honking, and wing flapping is directly overhead three fourths of the year … I like it 😊

Finished MOD Flying Geese Kitchen Towel. Cotton yarn.

Cotton yarn in 3 colors (MC = Pebble Beach Ombre; CC1 = Cream; & CC2 = Blue Jeans)

# 10-1/2 knitting needles

#J/10 crochet hook

With MC, CO 73 sts; P 1 row, K 4 rows stockinette stitch. EO MC.

Row 1: Attach CC1, and k, working into the back of each st across row.

Row 2: Purl

Row 3: Rpt row 1.

Row 4: Rpt row 2.

Repeat rows 3 & 4 until there are 24 rows total; drop CC1 and attach MC

Twisted Stitch insert

Continue in st. st. with MC for a total of 61 rows from beginning.

Begin Towel Topper decrease as follows: P 2 – P 3 tog across row to last 2 sts: end P 2 sts. EO MC

Change from knitting needles to crochet hook and attach CC1. work in sc as follows: dec 1 st EA end until 8 sts remain.

Sc for 13 rows.

Sl st x5; ch 6 and sl st in same sp; sl at to end. Turn.

Dc x12 in chain loop; add a decorative trim of choice around button-hole-loop.

Sew button in place and weave in loose ends.

With CC2, embroider flying geese motifs across cream insert at hemline.

MOD MALLARDS Kitchen Towel Set

I thought I’d try something a little different with this kitchen towel design – adding an afghan stitch/cross stitch insert along the hemline. The dishcloth is easily found online: Grandma’s Favorite Dishcloth.

Cotton yarn in colors of choice MC (I chose Crown Jewels Ombre) & CC (Beach Grass).

# 10-1/2 knitting needles

#J/10 crochet hook

#H Afghan Hook

 

With MC, CO 73 sts & P 1 row.

Continue in MC, working 4 rows st. st: EO MC

Row 5: With CC color, and Afghan hook, pick up each st across row.

Row 6: With yarn at back of work, yo and draw hook through first st, *yo and draw hook through next 2 sts*: rpt from * to * to end of row.

Row 7: With yarn at back of work, insert hook through vertical loop of second st in previous row, yo and draw through one loop – continue making loops in the same way to end of row.

Row 8: Rpt row 6

Repeat rows 7 & 8 for a total of 12 rows afghan stitch pattern; drop CC and attach MC.

Hemline with afghan sts insert.

Afghan insert completed. Ready for cross st motiif; the insert will be stiff.

Pick up sts with knitting needle, and continue in st. st. with MC for a total of 61 rows from beginning hemline.

Begin towel topper decreases as follows: P 2 tog – P 3 tog across row to last 2 sts: end P 2 sts.

Change from knitting needles to crochet hook and work in sc as follows: dec 1 st EA end until 8 sts remain.

Sc for 13 rows.

Embroider duck motif across crochet insert, equally spacing across insert.

Draw motif grid & loosely outline Duck shape on insert.
