FUNNY BONE TICKLED

My morning started off with a text from a friend inviting me to Fellowship Sunday morning – she’ll be picking me up on her way through town 😊

Then I spent 2 hours of afternoon time chatting with a Rosburg friend; and begged off meeting her for Supper at the Duck Inn, due to the moon’s influence on my appearance 😉 My face is healing quickly, so we made plans for next week.

Music lured me out-of-house this evening, and off to the Jam Session on Spruce Creek.

I could finally wash my hair today! I had to give the eyebrow glue time to {set} before I could get water near it.
A touch of lip color ... that’s easy to clean off a sore face ðŸ˜‰
Ready to meet the public; I chose this blouse because the cut-out-sleeves allows me to keep my bruised shoulder moistened with coconut oil.

A few people at the session had already seen my face – and heard the story of how it happened, so I was comfortable showing it.

Some of the others were shocked when they saw it … and more than a bit curious; they know I am a Widow, and that I don’t date. But my face did look like suspicious activity had taken place.

G & R both asked me, “What happened to you?”, and J replied in a deadpan tone, “She shut the bar down Tuesday morning; you should see the guy she took to task.”

More shocked looks aimed at my face. They also know that I am a Christian, and though I can get snippily feisty when pushed too far, I don’t engage in fisticuffs. J and I started laughing so hard we were almost howling as our funny bones were tickled by the startled expressions on G & R’s faces, and I finally found the breath to explain to them about the lure of the moon the other night that landed me in ER at 3 A.M. When we all got done laughing, and wiped our eyes – everyone grabbed their instruments and got down to the business of music 😊

It was a good 2½ hours of time well spent. I love these people. I love music. It’s a good gathering of friends wasting time, doing what we like to do. The ideas flow, and the music being composed is a thing of beauty to watch come to life. GG’s voice is missed, but she’ll be back when her husband recovers from his surgery.

It was still light outside when the session wrapped up for the evening. As I left Spruce Creek and Mill Creek roads, I nipped into the turnout at the end of Mill Creek Road to watch a ship pass. Then … I spotted another one near Stella, and drove to Willow Grove to see what kind it was 😉

Songs sprung to mind as I watched both ships - maybe it was just having left the jam session; or the thought of Bob's blue cooler that brought the first one to mind. Maybe it was the thought that Bob always liked watching ships cruising the River. Whatever the reason, my thoughts turned to Bob, and the songs, as I watched the river activity.

I saw this ship go upriver Tuesday afternoon; Mill Creek Road turnout.

This thing is HUGE, and all I could think is that it looked like Bob's blue carry-lunchbox cooler; I laughed as my funny bone was tickled ðŸ˜Š
See the similarities?
The Glovis Century is a Vehicles Cargo Carrier built in 2012, sailing under the Korean flag.
Curiosity at Germany Creek turnout, led me to Willow Grove.
The river was busy tonight with all kinds of boat action.
Very slow moving vessel I spotted at Germany Creek; and that flag does not at all resemble the USA Flag (I researched the ship’s name at home after leaving Willow Grove).
The vessel ESSAYONS is a Hopper Dredger built in 1983 and reportedly sailing under the Flag of the USA.

In the short period of time it took me to get from one end of the small Willow Grove County Park, to the other end ... that dredger was making a full turn about!

I've never seen a large vessel backup and turn around; that ship backed up quicker than I can make a back up turn, with the Highlander. LOL
Then, it started moving back downriver. Hmmm

As I was leaving Willow Grove, I happened to glance at the car’s dash – and saw a full moon icon winking at me.

That full moon is not going to lure me outside again!

I stuck my tongue out at it, shifted gears, and headed home, allowing my tickled funny bone a chuckle or two.

Another luring face-plant-fall is not going to happen again: from now on, moon viewing/picture framing will be done in the safety of my livingroom 😉

BLAME IT ON THE MOON

Yesterday afternoon, dental pain was the foremost thought in my mind; by 2:30 AM this morning, a full face-plant pain was in play.

Recent Dental Post: https://jeastofeden.blogspot.com/2022/07/orange.html

Around 2:25 A.M., today (in the moment), I was shutting the laptop down and getting ready to head down the hallway to bed … when a brilliantly shining full moon caught my attention shining beckoningly through the front windows. I saw it, and thought, “What a beautiful picture that would make!”

The cloudless night sky – full moon lit up like it was infused with neon brilliance. Trees spaced perfectly. I wanted that photo shoot.

So, genius that I am, I went for it.

And took a nose dive when in my excitement to get the shot before the moment passed, I missed the last step of the carport stairs and was catapulted into the back of the Highlander; after which I bounced onto the carport’s cement parking pad, broke my new glasses to smithereens, skinned my left knee, scraped the skin off my left shoulder – and ruined my eyebrow with the glasses wire when the arm blew off (I’m lucky that my eyebrow was gouged, and not my eyes): Elohim was faithful to protect my eyes, and I am thankful.

But my PJ top was ruined by the freely flowing blood from my slashed eyebrow.

Thank God I had my sunglasses for backup eyewear! That’s what I used to drive myself to the local ER – I had changed my top, throwing the other away – and slapped a bandage over my eyebrow to staunch the bleeding while driving.

I showed up at ER, at 3 AM, looking like a war-zone-refuge.
I scraped my shoulder ... and skinned my left knee.
I shaved the skin off my left cheek; and narrowly missed gouging my eyes with my broken glasses pieces.
Sporting a black eye is something new for me.
I was gratified to see the cross above my ER door; it gave me comfort.
This tickled my funny bone - I have a twisted sense of humor.

The humor was wearing thin 4 hours into the ER waiting game. My face was starting to feel the laceration pain. My left eye was taking on Neanderthal features … I still had a twisted sense of humor, but I was bone tired; I wanted the doctor to get his butt in there, check me out, and release me to go home.

I will have an eyebrow scar across the same eyebrow Bob sported a scar; mine is much deeper and longer.
Bob's eyebrow scar he got as a little fella.
ALL this because of a brilliant Full Moon; that would-be-pic is not worth what this ER visit will drain me for!

Finally, the doctor deemed it necessary to appear. He poked around my tender brow area, and ordered a nurse to finally (after 4 hours!) flush my gouge out. Then he blew back into my room just long enough to seal my eyebrow slash with glue!

This 10-minute {Dr. appearance} will no doubt cost me $1,000.00

The ER doc GLUED my eyebrow gouge! Stitches would have been better.
My life - never a dull moment; Doc says the bruising should all but disappear in a week’s time – the eyebrow gash should be fully healed in 2 weeks. I hope so.

When I finally got home, I saw that my glasses were a total wipe-out. I won’t be able to replace them until the end of next month; that’s when I will have been able to save enough $$$ to order a new pair

My new glasses are ruined; I've only had them since May. This year. The metal spike is what gouged my eyebrow when the arm broke off. There will be no new glasses until the end of August.

I had managed to catch a few winks of zzz’s during those wasted hours in ER, so when invited for coffee and chit-chat around 11 AM, I did spend 5 hours with friends this afternoon. Thank God for friends that don’t care how you look 😊

LONG GONE

I GREW UP WTH THESE EXPRESSIONS:
MERGATTROYD. Do you remember that word? Would you believe the spell checker did not recognize the word Mergatroyd? Heavens to Mergatroyd!
The other day a not so elderly (I say 75) lady said something to her son about driving a Jalopy; and he looked at her quizzically and said, "What the heck is a Jalopy?" He had never heard of the word jalopy! She knew she was old ... But not that old.
Well, I hope you are Hunky Dory after you read this and chuckle.
About a month ago, I illuminated some old expressions that have become obsolete because of the inexorable march of technology. These phrases included: Don't touch that dial, Carbon copy, You sound like a broken record, and Hung out to dry.
Back in the olden days we had a lot of moxie. We'd put on our best bib and tucker, to straighten up and fly right.
Heavens to Betsy! Gee whillikers! Jumping Jehoshaphat! Holy Moley!

We were in like Flynn and living the life of Riley; and even a regular guy couldn't accuse us of being a knucklehead, a nincompoop or a pill. Not for all the tea in China!
Back in the olden days, life used to be swell, but when's the last time anything was swell? Swell has gone the way of beehives, pageboys and the DA.; of spats, knickers, fedoras, poodle skirts, saddle shoes, and pedal pushers.
Oh, my aching back! Kilroy was here, but he isn't anymore.
We wake up from what surely has been just a short nap, and before we can say, "Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle!" Or, "This is a fine kettle of fish!" We discover that the words we grew up with, the words that seemed omnipresent, as oxygen, have vanished with scarcely a notice from our tongues and our pens and our keyboards.
Poof, go the words of our youth, the words we've left behind. We blink, and they're gone. Where have all those great phrases gone?
Long gone: Pshaw, The milkman did it. Hey! It's your nickel. Don't forget to pull the chain. Knee high to a grasshopper. Well, Fiddlesticks! Going like sixty. I'll see you in the funny papers. Don't take any wooden nickels. Wake up and smell the roses.
It turns out there are more of these lost words and expressions than Carter has liver pills. This can be disturbing stuff! (Carter's Little Liver Pills are gone too!)
We of a certain age have been blessed to live in changeable times.
For a child each new word is like a shiny toy, a toy that has no age. We at the other end of the chronological arc have the advantage of remembering there are words that once did not exist and there were words that once strutted their hour upon the earthly stage and now are heard no more, except in our collective memory. It's one of the greatest advantages of aging!
Leaves us to wonder where Superman will find a phone booth...
See ya later, alligator! After 'while crocodile. Okidoki.
You'll notice they left out "Monkey Business"!!!
We came from another time and childhood. NO ONE WILL EVER HAVE THAT OPPORTUNITY AGAIN ... WE WERE GIVEN ONE OF OUR MOST PRECIOUS GIFTS: LIVING IN THE PEACEFUL AND COMFORTABLE TIMES, CREATED FOR US BY THE "GREATEST GENERATION!" :-D

Everything I think always leads to a song – this post made me think of this song ;-)

Bob liked Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. I liked Young ... and Tom Jones. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young are SO STONED.
