3 Week Garden Progress

I have not been snubbing my Blog, I have been so BUSY that I just have not had time to get to it; I started planting my veggie beds April 19th because Spring sprung early here and the weather was holding :-D I am happy with the progress to date – I have only used rainwater on the veggie beds and edible flowers; non-edible flowers being watered with city water from the hose. I am very happy with the veggie beds Hubs built for me last Summer when we moved to this Mobile Park (https://jeastofeden.blogspot.com/2017/06/new-home-d.html & https://jeastofeden.blogspot.com/2017/07/tomorrow-tomorrow-ill-do-it-tomorrow.html)and after we updated the house (https://jeastofeden.blogspot.com/2017/07/downtime-day.html & https://jeastofeden.blogspot.com/2017/09/happy-new-year.html); and I am VERY pleased with the rain-barrel Hubs installed for me in February this year (https://jeastofeden.blogspot.com/2018/02/rain-barrel.html) – I have tapped that thing twice already and it is STILL pretty much full … and I give my veggies a good looooooooong drink of water every other day when the sun shines strong ;-)

This is what my veggie beds looked like 3 weeks ago …

Geraniums set out
Celery, Broccoli & Cauliflower
Patio Apple Trees & Cabbage bed
Patio Apple Tree, Tomato bed under plastic, Onion bed, Blueberries & Strawberries

This is what they look like today:

12 yo Geraniums with varied hued blossoms and foliage on porch & Stairs (stairs will be painted - the guys tore them up moving things in and out while remodeling the interior)
12 yo Geraniums, sedum, 18 yo miniature Yellow Rose, Stargazer Asiatic Lilly w-Violas, Purple Globe Allium
6 ct. Celery, 4 ct. Broccoli & 4 ct. Cauliflower; the broccoli and cauilflower are staked because the river winds really BLOW through here like a wind tunnel <:-O Don't they look nice and strong so far? They tend to wilt in the heat of the day, so I am thinking I need to rig a sun-shade of some sort ...
These Celery DOUBLED IN SIZE in yesterday's sunshine
12 yo Patio Apple Trees (1 Red, 1 Yellow), 12 cabbages (4 ct. Red, 4 ct. White & 4 ct. Green), and flanking Spinach in containers
Spinach
Tomatoes: pic taken at 7 a.m. before sun is fully up in the sky - this area gets plenty  of sunlight a day before the sun starts sliding down in the sky - 2 ct. Roma & 2 ct. Red Cherry
Tomatoes, 20 yo Chives, Rosemary, & Onions
Candy Onions - 2 beds (80 ct)
Candy Onions DOUBLED IN SIZE since yesterday too! They were so puny yesterday morning before we left ... they shot up and beefed out in short time ;-)
Caged 3 yo Jellybean Blueberry bushes - 2 ct.
3 yo Jellybean Blueberry Bushes, Dahlias, 18 yo Tiger Lilies, Strawberries (5 ct.) & 1 yo Rhubarb we bought & planted today

The Park lot is small, but I am going to squeeze in as many veggie boxes and as many veggies as I can with the limited space I have to work with ;-) We bought more box materials the other day – we just need free days to get to work on them; now that the Zoo trip is out of the way, they may actually get built sometime this week – hope, hope!

And after THAT gets done, I am going to start raking the rock and picking the sparse weeds that manage to break through the ground covering under the rock ... but first things FIRST - like more veggie beds and the planting/setting out of herbs in containers. Taking care of my family's food and health needs are more important than having a 'Homes & Garden' landscape (which is nice, but not a necessity). MPO
