CROCKPOT DUTCH SPLIT PEA SOUP


I use my crockpots for just about everything! This is a long simmering soup with a delicate smoky flavor.

CROCKPOT DUTCH SPLIT PEA SOUP ~ 6 servings

2 cups green Split Peas * 6 cups Water * 4 cups Broth (chicken or beef) * ¼ pound smoked Pork or Ham, diced * ¾ cup chopped Celery (some with leaves) * 2 Leeks (white part only), thinly sliced and washed well * 1 large Onion, chopped * 2-1/2 cups diced Potatoes * 2 large Carrots, diced * ½ teaspoon Salt (if desired) * ¼ teaspoon freshly ground Black Pepper * dash Hot Pepper Sauce or ¼ teaspoon Cumin

Place all ingredient in a large crockpot and cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours.
