REBEL TUESDAY1~The Pony Express

MAY 11th: This past Tuesday was a 'Rebel Tuesday' - it started out with a visit to the Pony Express Museum; then on to the Jesse James Home Museum before leaving Missouri.

(REBEL TUESDAY2~The Jesse James Home Museum follows this post).

Today's Plan.
This museum first …
The operation wasn't in business very long …
The Pony Express Museum; we were here very early to be in and out as soon as they opened.
Town Plaque: I walked Bleu and read about the town, while we waited for the museum doors to open …
'The Flag Incident'.
'The Pony Express & The Civil War'.
'Union Occupation' - I'm still a Yankee Gal - even though both my husbands are southern in heritage & mannerisms.
'Fort Smith'.
Pony Express Plaque:

Pony Express Rider's Distance & Pay.
Women & the Pony Express; most of the women were Widows depending on that income.
The Youngest rider; kids grew up fast.
A LOT of horses were needed for a loop ride from A to B - and back again.
The museum's opening hours & admission fees.
We watched a 30-minute Documentary about the Pony Express Beginnings.
I was a Pony Express Rider for a second. LOL
Holland was more interested in the guns …
The 1st Pony Express Rider - John Fry.
The Youngest Pony Express Rider - Info.
The Pony Express Mail Delivery Stamp; Holland's memento.
The Telegraph was the end of the Pony Express.
Pony Express Coins Minted.
Interesting Star of David coin; I remember the Indian Head Penny still being in circulation. My mother would send us to get penny stamps, and sometimes we bought them with the Indian Head pennies.
