This afternoon we tackled more legal stuff concerning our marriage.
But first, I got my out-of-house-face in place - and I'm still working my way through my clothes cache ;-)
We left the house with a list of about a dozen stops we were hoping to get through … and came back home after only three: Courthouse stuff, Bank stuff, & Post Office stuff. The Courthouse and P.O. stuff still needs to be finalized.
Anyway …
We drove to the P.O. in Kelso first, so Holland could collect his mail (he's closing the box the end of this month); then we walked across the street to the Court House to file our Marriage License there (Reno told us to do that; but we don't have to file it here), and then get Holland on the House Deed (not so simple - and we'll have to go back to get that done).
And what really bothers me, is that if I was a man none of this nonsense would be happening - I'd simply be able to add my spouse to the house deed, the bank account, and all the other joint things married people settle into so simply. But, it seems that since I'm a woman who has remarried, there are a million {legalities} that make something so simple into a major undertaking. It's ridiculous.
Then, we drove back into Longview to Holland's Bank, and added me to his account - that actually went pretty smoothly; all I had to show was my Driver's License ID … when I added Holland to my Bank account the other day, we had to "show proof" he was actually living with me; that step was skipped with me at his Bank this afternoon. My Bank was clearly being biased based on gender: the {Law} is sexist and ludicrous.

Then, we hopped across the way to the Longview Post Office, to get Holland a key for the P.O. Box here at Heron Pointe. I was told, the P.O. "don't give out keys; we have to retool the box with a new set of keys. That will be $40."
Seriously?
I don't mind the $40 as much as I mind the retooling.
"The weekend" is days away - and no specific day was mentioned, which means we will have to be sitting on our hands waiting while life passes by :-(
Settling remarriage details is a major pain in the ass for a widow.
But Holland seems to be taking these hurdles in stride; of course, he is a male ;-)
