GALATIANS ~ Chapter 6/Thursday Bible Study

In Galatians Chapter 6, Apostle Paul is continuing to expound on his major theme of this Book: that mankind cannot experience salvation via any legalistic Law-based obedience … or show-n-tell rituals, such as circumcision.

Salvation is only through the work Yeshua did for us on Calvary! There is no other route to The Father. N.a.d.a.

GALATIANS ~ Chapter 6/Thursday Bible Study

The Christian Life Brings Brotherhood, Good Works

“Brethren, if a man is caught in some wrongdoing, you who are spiritual should set him right in a spirit of gentleness (kind & amicable/friendly, harmonious, polite; mild & refined in manner = gracious; quiet/discreet, inobtrusive, peaceful, private, confidential & sensitive/responsive, receptive, insightful, subtle of disposition = nature, character, temperament, outlook; moderate; gradual). (v. 1)

‘This is My Commandment; That You Love One Another song’:

Be guard as to yourself, lest you too, be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and thus you will fulfill the law of *Christ. When a man thinks he is something big, he is really nothing at all; he is fooling himself. Let each one test his own work; then, if he has any reason for boasting, he can say to himself alone – and not herald it to another. For everyone of us will have to carry his own load. One who is taught The Word should share with his teacher in every good thing he has (cross reference: Romans 15:27 & 1 Corinthians 9:11-14). (vv. 2–6)

Do not be misled. You cannot fool **Elohim. Whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap. If one sows to gratify his own flesh, them from this soil will he reap corruption. But if he sows to the Spirit, then from the Spirit he will reap everlasting Life. Let us not be weary in doing good, for in due time we shall reap – if we do not lose courage. So then, whenever we have a chance to do so, let us do good to all men; especially to those who are of the Family with us in The Faith. (vv. 7–10)

The Christian Pride Is in the Cross, Not in the Flesh

See what large letters I make when writing this letter to you with my own hand. What is it they want, those men who would compel you to be circumcised? They want to make a show of pleasing the worldly-minded, and they want to escape being persecuted because of the cross of Christ. Even those who themselves are circumcised do not observe the Law, but they want you to be circumcised so that they can boast of your submission.

But far be it for me to boast of anything except the cross of our Lord, ***Yeshua Ha’Mashiach! On it the world has been crucified to me – and I have been crucified to the world. Circumcision counts for nothing with Christ; and the want of circumcision means nothing to Him. What counts is a New Birth. (vv. 11 – 15)

Peace and mercy be upon all who follow this rule, and upon Elohim’s true Israel! After this, let no man make trouble for me, for I bear in my body the brand-marks of Christ. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brethren! Amen.” (vv. 16 – 18)

*Christ (from the Hebrew word, Ha’Mashiach ישוע המשיח & the Greek word, Christos/khris-tos) = The Anointed, Yeshua the Messiah, in both languages.

**Elohim (Hebrew: אֱלֹהִים, romanized: ʾĚlōhīm: [(eloˈ(h)im]) is a Hebrew word meaning "Gods – Father, Son, & Holy Spirit". Although the word is plural in form, in the Hebrew Bible it usually refers to a single deity “Behold, the Lord – the Lord is One”, particularly the at God of Israel.

***Yeshua Ha’Mashiach: is Hebrew for “Jesus the Messiah”; the name Jesus is the Greek form of the Hebrew name Yeshua.
