MOD DRAGON SLIPPERS – Toddler/3-4 YO

MOD Dragon Slippers. FINISHED.

I designed these little dragon slippers the other day for a little boy – they will fit a foot that wears a 9-10 toddler shoe.

I designed MOD Dragon Slippers after Hearthsong’s dragon scuffs …

DRAGON Slipper Scuffs - Hearthsong

… with several modifications - coloration and a slipper sock formation:

I scaled the original slipper sock pattern down to fit a smaller boy’s foot – here is the general slipper pattern sans instructions for eyes, frills, or tongue; those you can work out on your own to fit your own interpretation of your dragon. I was in a hurry, so I didn’t get fancy and I didn’t take notes for the trims ;-)

These slipper socks are quick and easy to make and very adaptable to active imagnations.

Toddler Slipper Sock

Materials: Worsted weight yarn/size I crochet hook/tapestry needle

NOTE: Double yarn used for slipper. Worked in the round with no joining except on final row before ending off.

Rnd 1: Ch 2, work 5 sc into 2nd ch from hook to form a circle. Mark last st of this rnd, then move marker at the end of each succeeding rnd.

Rnd 2: Work 3 sc into each sc around (15 sc).

Rnd 3: 2 sc in first sc, *sc in each of next 2 sc, increase next sc* repeat from * around (20 sc).

Work even on 23 sts for a total of 12 rounds (include beginning round in count).

Back: Chain 11 and using both loops, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each st and sc of slipper sock, working your way back up the foundation ch (44 sc around entire sock)

From now on, sc in the back loop of each sc every row from here on out.

Work 4 ridge rows: 8 back loop rows; then begin decrease rows as follows –

1st DEC Row: Sc in each of next 19 sc, dec over next 2 sc, work 1 sc, dec over next 2 sc, sc to end. Ch 1, turn.

2nd DEC Row: Sc in each of next 18 sc, dec over next 2 sc, work 1 sc, dec over next 2 sc, sc to end. Ch 1, turn.

3rd and final DEC Row: Sc in each of next 17 sc, dec over next 2 sc, work 1 sc, dec over next 2 sc, sc to end. Ch 1, turn.

Turn back section of slipper over and match sts. Sl st inside loops of sides together. Finish off.

IF YOU ARE ADDING A DRAGON FACE/FRILLS do not finish the back seam yet! It is easier to add your own trims to the front if the back seam is left open until you have your features added to the front:

MOD Dragon Slippers. Crochet eyes.
MOD Dragon Slippers. Neck frills and eye placement.

That’s it … easy peasy ;-)

Work out a design of your own and drop by to share your picture of your finished slipper with me :-D

THURSDAY BIBLE STUDY

THE GOSPEL ACCORDNG TO MATTHEW

Chapter 4: When Yeshua (Jesus) was led by the Ruach (the Holy Spirit) into the wilderness to be tested by Lucifer (the devil) He spent 40 days and 40 nights there, fasting, after which He was very hungry. Then the Tempter came near and said, “If You are Ben Elohim (Son of God), tell these stones to become bread.” But Yeshua said in reply, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of Elohei (God)’” (Deuteronomy 8:3).

Next, Lucifer took Him to the Holy City (Jerusalem), and set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said, “If You are Elohei, jump down, for it is written: ‘He has commanded His angels to look after You, and they will hold You up in their hands so that Your foot shall not strike against a stone’” (Psalm 91:11 & 12). Yeshua answered him, “It is also written: ‘you shall not tempt Adonai (the Lord), your God’” (Deuteronomy 6:16).

Once more Lucifer took Him – this time to the top of a very high mountain – and he showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor, and said to Him, “I will give You all of these, if You will fall down and worship me.” Then Yeshua said to him, “Go! Away with you, Satan! For it is written: ‘You shall worship Adonai, your God, and you shall serve Him only’” (Deuteronomy 6:13). Then the Devil left Him, and angels came and ministered to Him.

When Yeshua had heard that John had been put into prison, He went up to Galilee. And then, leaving Nazareth, He went up into Capernaum, which is by the Sea of Galilee, and on the borders of Zebulun and Nephtali. Thus the words spoken by the prophet Isaiah were to come true: “Land of Zebulun and land of Nephtali, along the road to the sea, this side of the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles: This people sitting in darkness saw a great Light; a Light dawned on those who dwelt in the land and in the shadow of death” (Isaiah 8:22-9:2).

From that time on, Yeshua began to preach saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” As He walked by the Sea of Galilee He saw 2 brothers – Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew, his brother, abut to cast a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. He talked to them. “Come with Me,” He said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” They abandoned their nets and immediately followed Him. And as they went father He saw 2 other brothers, James, the son of Zebedee, and John, his brother, in a boat together with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called to them. And they, too, at once left their boat and their father, and followed Him.

So Yeshua went about in all Galilee, teaching in the synagogues and preaching the glad tidings of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every infirmity among the people. His fame spread even into all Syria, and the people brought Him all who were sick, afflicted with various diseases and sufferings, also demoniacs, lunatics and paralytics, and He healed them. Great crowds followed Him from Galilee and Decapolis, from Jerusalem and Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.
