SNOW DAY

There was a thick cloud covering last night so I couldn’t check to see if there was a Blue Moon or not last night, but around 2 a.m. this morning after I stopped working on a new design, I checked the front door and noticed this:

Front Patio picture: about 2” snowfall

This morning we woke up to a Winter Wonderland here – this snowbaby is happy to see the snowflakes … and the subsequent piling up of snow everywhere, but no one else is thrilled, and I have to admit that the older I get (60 yo in December!), the more my bones complain. We normally get rainforest weather in our neck of the PNW – rain, rain, and M.O.R.E. rain; but every once in a while a Blue Moon will hover overhead, and our region gets some snow: this is one of those ‘every once in a while’ moments ;-)

6 inches of snowfall this morning around 10 a.m.
Snowy blanket covering my raised veggie beds - so far the netting over my blueberry bushes hasn't caved in.
My dwarf Patio Apple Trees have been naturally 'flocked'. LOL

Tuning into the weather channel to see what the grandkids are facing this work day, the weatherman says ‘a foot of snow in Portland’ (that’s a big deal in the PNW) … and ‘it feels like Fall in the South’ (people head south to get winter sunshine, so this is not welcome news for those regions), so it would appear that everyone is waking up to strange weather this morning. Crater Lake, where we have visited twice in our 42 year marriage – recently this past August for our anniversary – has had 99 inches of snowfall and had been shut down due to heavy snowpack and avalanche: they are expecting 16 to 26 inches MORE through today. Unheard snowfall is taking place across the NW.

Maybe I’d better put another brick of suet in the bird feeder for our feathered friends … this is actually an excuse to be the 1st to set foot in the fresh snowfall ;-)

  1. I think if you moved to a warmer climate you would miss the snow. We're at the top of Texas on the NE side and do get snow once or twice a winter. I'm like you in that I love the snow, especially to walk in when it's coming down. Nice to meet you...will be dropping back in often.

    1. I admit that I will miss the snow, but my old bones won't. LOL The place we are considering does have snow in the mountains above the valley - about an hour or so drive away, and that's fine with us. This type of snowfall here is rare ... we really just get rain, rain, r.a.i.n. 9 months out of every year, so I get real excited when we get more than a dusting of snow. And Hubs is thankful too because then he doesn't have to drive me into the mountains where snow is 6-9 feet deep :-D :-D

Glad you stopped by and I hope to be Blogging more frequently. Lately I've been just kicking back and relaxing after the busy Bazaar Season. And doing research on Desert Hot Springs, CA so we're a little prepared for the change. It's gonna be a big one ;-)
